For many of us, our memories are one of the greatest treasures we possess. Be it collecting photographs, writing, creating art or engraving it deeply into our minds, we make certain that our memories and the emotions they carry are always accessible to us.
Extracting from this emotional response, industrial innovators across businesses, education systems, activists, governments, sports organisations, the entertainment industry and more are quick to mine on our attachment to the ‘immediate’ past through a powerful remembrance device – Data.
Has our sentimentality surrendered us to an intangible industry where emotions are managed through digital captures from personal ‘Like’, ‘Visit’, ‘Share’, amongst other wants and needs?
What value does our nostalgia for the past add to or take from our lives? Is it simply the act of reminiscing or is it also a potent tool to be wielded? Does the power it has over us have potential to be manipulated in other ways that affects not just our present but also our future?
Research & Development (R&D) promotes creative investigation in a curated practice, with an emphasis on unveiling the creative process and methodologies through archiving and performance.

1. An artistic inquiry conceptualised by Matthew Goh investigating the relationship between the city and its inhabitants, whereby “X” is a variable aspect of the urban environment to be reimagined, or an inhabitant responding. to the city.

Synopsis
This year, RAW Moves is proud to present a digitalised performance of RawGround: Reference.
References are the frameworks through which we develop several different facets of our lives – ourselves, the past, and the present. It is through the dictates of our referential frameworks that we are able to make meaning of and participate in personal, cultural, and national discourses. This 12-hour mini marathon touches on ‘Inclusivity’, ‘Empowerment’ and ‘Sensing’ – all of which interrogate various points of references including memory, heritage, culture, and technology.

RAW Project (RP) features commissions and reprised works with the intent to infuse diverse movement aesthetics into the local arts industry.
Synopsis
You could just stand there, or you could run amongst the forest of columns…and that’s ok.
Singapore dance artist Ricky Sim presents an immersive installation work that considers the spaces in between as we learn to navigate a socially distanced world. For the past year, we have been living in a new reality with a heightened awareness of space, and an increased sense of isolation. How do we adapt and go through our daily lives that have been changed fundamentally?
Interspace invites participants, either singly or in pairs, to enter a hypnotic space of awareness, discovery and assurance. Encountering a lone socially distanced performer along the way, participants are free to experience the interplay in their own way and time, coming to terms and building trust with an unfamiliar environment.

Synopsis
RAW Moves was invited to showcase a digital presentation of Being, and Organs at National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan as part of the exhibition Provocative Futures: Speculation, human body, and medical science – Paul Gong & Kuang-Yi Ku Double Solo Exhibition. Through this exhibition, Paul inwards explores the influence of medicine on the human body and inquires deeper questions about the human body’s nature and essence.

The symposium consisted of 5 sections covering performing arts, visual arts, design, literature and science communication/education. Experts from the different fields were invited to share about their work. RAW Moves’ Artistic Director Ricky Sim spoke under the performing arts section sharing about the process of Being, and Organs and the relationship between bio-art/speculative design and the performing arts.
