Taichi

Tai Chi​

Students experience a contemporary version of Taiji as inspired by the late practitioner Yang Tienji. Sessions focus on exercises that strengthen with the aim of preventing injury and make for a longer lasting body, as well as the idea that complex movement can be expressed through awareness and feeling, rather than simply mimicking.

Sessions are suited to those with prior movement training or movement professionals and therapists.

Attire: Dress comfortably in loose clothing.

Ballet

Ballet

Participants need to have prior training or dance experience in ballet. This class focuses on proprioception, or kinesthetic resonance – practising and refining sensory awareness in agility, accuracy, quality of movement as well as expressiveness.

Attire: leotards, tights and ballet slippers

Bharatanatyam

Indian Classical Dance - Bharatanatyam

Participants will be introduced to the basics of Bharatanatyam with a focus on movement phrases and hand gestures. The sessions will also include the sharing of cultural specificities alongside dance technique. These sessions are pitched at an elementary level.

Attire: Dress comfortably for movement. Bring along a sash that is long enough to tie around the waist.

Floorbarre

Floor-Barre

This class focuses on body placement and core control through the combined skills and knowledge of Floor-Barre Technique and Pilates. Participants will work on muscle and joint strengthening to improve posture, balance and proprioception so as to improve their quality of life.

Attire: T-shirt, tights or sweatpants, socks. (No loose clothing or short pants)
Things to bring: Yoga mat, 2 towels (1 big and 1 small)
