Flawsome!

Ricky Sim (Artistic Director)

Asymmetry showcases the beauty in imperfection, embracing the wabi-sabi aesthetic. Just as asymmetrical designs stand out for their unique charm, personal excellence is about accepting your flaws and quirks and focusing on progress, not perfection. This shift moves you away from chasing an impossible ideal and toward a more realistic and fulfilling path of continuous growth, creating a richer and more engaging experience in life.

Finding perfections in imperfections

Coleen Lee (Company Manager)

Nature is in fact the most imperfect, perfection.

Anything that grows organically is hardly perfect or symmetrical, yet everything fits like a puzzle to a grander picture that screams perfection.

Asymmetrical Moments

Matthew Goh (Company Dancer)

I reflected on some personal quirks that are ordinarily asymmetrical:

  • Only my right-hand writes perfectly
  • Wake up in the morning and sleep at night
  • Leaning only on my right leg while waiting
  • Early for work and late for personal events
  • My right leg is shorter than my left leg – must be the leaning…
  • Executing a pirouette
  • Good at using Adobe Illustrator and awful at drawing with pen and paper
  • Completing tasks as an artist and an administrator
  • Planning each step of the way and living life without a schedule
  • A self that loves being alone and a self that enjoys connecting with people

Thinking of more moments while living in the moment…

Unfolding the unknown

Audrey Desmond (Social Media Manager)

My life used to be a well-worn map – predictable, comfortable, mundane. But lately, the edges of my comfort zone felt as though they were fraying, urging me to explore beyond. So, I took a leap of faith, a one-way ticket in hand, not knowing exactly how things would turn out but yearning to lose myself a little. Travelling has become a humbling exploration, each culture a challenge to my assumptions. It’s messy and strangely alluring. Maybe losing myself in the world’s beautiful asymmetry is exactly how I’m meant to find myself again.
