Dance workshops in schools and dance community – a movement improvisation workshop that invites students to discover their unique physicality, self-awareness and explore the emotions that characterise the moving body.

Got To Move: Masterclass and The Fleeting Moment Open Rehearsal

As part of Got To Move 2015, a nationwide movement organised by National Arts Council to celebrate dance and to get everyone in Singapore moving, free Contemporary dance masterclasses (both beginner and professional level) were conducted by Italian artist-in-residence, Teresa Ranieri.

The open rehearsal for The Fleeting Moment presented excerpts of the creation and engaged audience in an intimate dialogue session where creative approaches and insights were shared by the creative team.

Got To Move: Creative Movement for Children

RAW Moves introduced its first children’s programme in partnership with Moving Arts in Got To Move 2015, a nationwide movement organised by National Arts Council to celebrate dance and to get everyone in Singapore moving!

RAW Moves Photography Exhibition

The photography exhibition held at library@esplanade for the month of March captures the vibrant and exciting art of four-year-old RAW Moves, who has been hailed as “quickly proving to be one of the most interesting one to watch” among emerging dance companies.

Repertory Platform (R.e.P) 2015 Pre-Performance Sharing

Held in conjunction with the company’s Repertory Platform (R.e.P) season, the pre-performance sharing at library@esplanade features an excerpt from Taiwanese choreographer Chang Chien- Hao’s thought-provoking Floating Box that explores the transformation of personal relationships through a series of tableaux, while Ebelle Chong shares her work process on her intriguing SSLD: 7 through facilitating a session with RAW Moves dancers as well as with the audience.

Drawing motivation from the daily sensory experiences of sight, hearing and touch, the class explores the embodiment of the senses through movements, and encourages a heightening of connectivity between the different parts of the body.

library@esplanade Insider Series: Can Dance be a Career?

Organized by National Library Board, Insider Series: Can Dance be a Career? features Ricky Sim (Artistic Director, RAW Moves) and Kuik Swee Boon (Artistic Director, T.H.E Dance Company), and Cheah Mei Sing (Head of Dance, SOTA), as they share their journey and career in Dance, as well as their views on the dance scene in Singapore and how it has evolved over the years.

Run Another Way 2014 Pre-Performance Sharing

Held at library@esplanade, the pre-performance sharing of Run Another Way 2014 features highlights of past creative explorations under RAW Moves’ Run Another Way platform, and intimate reflections by Run Another Way 2014 artists of their interests and motivations, experience of the creative process, and challenges faced in crafting their choreographic ideas.

The 2 hour Contemporary Dance Masterclass features a culturally influenced approach to movement, in particular one that juxtaposes the traditional Western Sumatra arts and cultural practises with Western Contemporary dance techniques. This unique movement form is an Asian Contemporary dance practice that instils a fresh perspective into the traditional arts of Western Sumatra.

A fast, fun, energetic and dynamic technique class, focusing on fluidity, musicality and freedom within the body. He draws from a range of techniques to develop a versatile dancer.

Dance Appreciation in schools

An adaptation of the production of R.e.P 2013 – Triple Bill was brought to CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent. Unlike the conventional mode of presentation of performances, the students were introduced to concepts of dance appreciation and the choreographic insights behind the creation of the three dance works, namely Helix, S.P.E.A.K.I.N.G, and Tease, before watching excerpts of them. There was also a post-performance dialogue between the students and RAW Moves dancers to facilitate an enhanced understanding and appreciation of the experience.
