We dance between light and shadow, joy and sorrow, hope and despair. Each step, a delicate balance between stability and chaos. These moments of duality reveal the true depth of our experiences, and unlock a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Fewer, Better Things
Coleen Lee (Company Manager)
The world is obsessed with abundance, and city life embodies this mindset. During the festive season, it’s easy to get caught up in sale events, overindulging, comparing gifts, or trying to outdo each celebration. Yet, we often forget that this is also a time to unwind, reflect, and express gratitude. Growing older is a blessing—it brings wisdom and confidence in who we are. True fulfillment doesn’t come from owning more but from finding contentment in simplicity.
Soil, Sand and Serenity
Matthew Goh (Company Dancer)
Finding my balance with nature has always been inspiring, so I close 2024 with a surreal trip to three islands in Thailand, Trat Province – Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Kood.
Having immersed myself in a new pacing has changed my perspective and with that shift offered a mantra for the new year – work less, live more.
The phrase entered my mind as I observed the locals operate their home-runned businesses. It seemed as if their work, everyday interactions, and living environment integrated to shape the work culture in their community. It looked like they were ‘living’ more than ‘working’. Through that experience, I reflected on where I fall in this spectrum of working and living.
Listen to the ground
Ricky Sim (Artistic Director)
As the year comes to a close, I find myself looking inward more often – a chance to pause, listen and check in with what my heart is trying to say. It reminds me of Santiago in The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and that line: People’s hearts are that way… – a gentle reminder that it’s okay for things to feel unclear or difficult at times. When I take time to think about what’s important, I feel more centred and ready to move forward. Whether I’m starting something new or simply showing up for others, it feels more real when I understand myself first. It’s not about doing big things but finding meaning in small, steady steps.
What is your ONE Thing?
Audrey Desmond (Social Media Manager)
Grounding myself in time—past, present, and future—is crucial as the year ends. This reflective process—understanding my internal environment and acknowledging where I’ve been and where I am—helps me gain the clarity needed to identify my ONE Thing: the single most impactful action that will shape my path and bring me closer to my goals with progressive excitement.
Concepts inspired by the book The ONE Thing by Gary W. Keller and Jay Papasan.
