RawGround 2026/27

RAW Moves is pleased to announce the 7th edition of RawGround (RG), our annual platform inviting local and international artists to create and share new short films. The next edition of RawGround will take place in January 2027 in Singapore.

RawGround presents a curated mini film showcase that sparks dialogue and challenges perceptions of social norms. We invite unorthodox, conceptual narratives that redefine movement and expand the possibilities of contemporary art.

Applicants are invited to conceptualise and create two new original short films, responding
to this edition’s theme of “(Un)finished Work: In pursuit of the work of forgetting…”.

About RawGround: 2 Films, 1 Conversation

2 Films, 1 Conversation explores the dynamic relationship between “two films” created by each artist/group from a single concept. The films may build on each other or exist in contrast, providing a spectrum of relationships – from alignment to opposition. The “conversation” extends beyond dialogue, focusing on discovering movement through film as a medium. This exploration deepens through curated workshops, where artists lead participants in diverse experiential learning activities.

In the past six editions, we have worked with over 40 artists across disciplines, including international participants from Australia, Canada, Germany, Georgia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

Beyond financial support, appointed artists will have the opportunity to expand their portfolios, refine their ideas and deepen their creative practice through engagement with diverse perspectives. This cultural exchange also offers visibility and meaningful connections with arts professionals and audiences locally and internationally.

Submission Information:

We invite you to journey with us by sharing your film proposal with us.

In your proposal submission, you will need to provide the following information:

Brief description of conceptual idea, design and storyboard (optional).
Explain how the idea relates to the theme and why you think your film topic is relevant and important.
Brief description of the workshop idea, format and objectives.
Profile(s), CV(s) or portfolio(s) of participating artist(s).
Any supporting documents as deemed fit—such as, but not limited to, references, photos, proposal boards with graphics and sketches.
Submissions must be original and newly created works developed specifically for this project. Previously presented or existing works will not be considered.
