Curious Games

2024

Developed from our A Little RAW (ALR) Company’s interactive performance Curious StepsCurious Games took inspiration from the traditional games of our younger days.

Our ALR company dancer, Shawn Tan, and instructor, Matthew Goh, performed at SG Enable’s “Kopi, Ai Mai? (Want a Coffee?)”. It was a fun-filled afternoon with a diverse audience exploring movement to express their personal stories and memories through these games.

Deyi Secondary School Dance Programme

2023

RAW Moves Ltd conducted a dance programme for Secondary 2 students, to cultivate an interest in K-pop dance as a form of performing art amongst the students. The programme also empowered students with self-confidence by using dance as a mean to express themselves. Students also understood the importance of teamwork in the process of putting up a performance.

Shifts of Innovations - Uncovering Reinvention

RAW Moves Artistic Director Ricky Sim was invited to share his artistic practice with honours students from NUS Theatre Studies. This was an effort to give the students an opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, thus enhancing their knowledge in areas such as professional ethics, practical skills, roles and responsibilities and artistic movement in practice.

Contemporary Theatre Practices: Sharing Session

RAW Moves Artistic Director Ricky Sim was invited to share his artistic practice with honours students from NUS Theatre Studies. This was an effort to give the students an opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, thus enhancing their knowledge in areas such as professional ethics, practical skills, roles and responsibilities and artistic movement in practice.

Goodman Arts Centre Open House

As part of Goodman Open House, RAW Moves offered inclusive workshops for children of different abilities to come together to explore their creativity and imagination through Creative Movement. Our holistic teaching methodology encourages learning of contemporary dance techniques and dance composition through structured play. The inclusive dance classes by RAW Moves cultivate a safe space for participants of all ages with Diverse Abilities and enable them the same access to learning opportunities.

We also presented a film titled A Green Dot, which examined the conflict between people and their environment, and how that influenced the contentions that often arise between our public and private spaces. An interactive family activity was also conducted during the film screening.

DesignTinkers x RAW Moves

2023

This specially curated holiday camp devised by DesignTinkers x RAW Moves, introduces children to understand body awareness and spatial concepts through Creative Movement in an interdisciplinary approach. The workshop aims to empower children to express themselves freely through movements and nurture their confidence to articulate ideas effectively through story-telling and designed creations. Children will be encouraged to interpret with open-ended materials to design and build their ideas from 2D to 3D prototypes.

*SCAPE Dance Residency Series Workshop

RAW Moves Company Dancer, Matthew Goh, was invited to be a part of the *SCAPE Dance Residency Series Workshop to allow participants to expand their choreographic vocabulary and explore different perspectives in creating and expressing movement. During the workshop, Matthew presented his films Depart and Arrive, followed by a Movement workshop where he shared his own creative processes.

Artist Sharing and Movement Workshop at Chung Cheng High (Main)

RAW Moves brought a snippet of our RawGround 2023 production to Chung Cheng High School (Main). RAW Moves’ Company Dancer Matthew Goh facilitated a screening and sharing session of his short films Depart & Arrive.

In a second session with Dance and Drama students, Matthew conducted a workshop exploring the creative process of movement-making through the exploration of the relationship between text and movement.

Explore Jurong Lake Gardens

2023

RAW Moves was invited by Cake Theatre to present a 30-minute showcase at Explore Jurong Lake Gardens 2023, organized by NParks and the National Arts Council. Company Dancers Matthew Goh, Natasha Fawzi, together with A Little RAW Company’s Shawn Tan and Isabella Wilfred, performed to students from APSN Chaoyang School, Lighthouse School, Rainbow Centre, and elderly from NTUC Health, Pertapis Senior Citizens Fellowship Home and Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness Centre. The choreography explored the movement of space, and engaged audience members with interactive elements.

Arts and Disability Forum (ADF) 5th Edition

2023

ART:DIS invited RAW Moves Artistic Director Ricky Sim and Company Dancer Matthew Goh to join as workshop facilitators for the Arts and Disability Forum (ADF) co-organised with NAC. The 5th edition of the Arts and Disability Forum (ADF) brings together international and local speakers across the arts and disability sector to share their diverse experiences, providing a space for learning and reflection on best practices in the field of disability arts and access.

Movement Workshop

2023

RAW Moves supported a Movement workshop conducted by Theatre Practitioner and Mental Wellness Researcher Lim Ci Xuan. Ci Xuan is a co-founder of an interdisciplinary arts collective Matter.Less and an associate artist of Split Theatre. This workshop brought Independent artists together to explore and share basic and essential knowledge, skills and understanding of body movement application.

*SCAPEdance Residency

2023

RAW Moves Artistic Director Ricky Sim was invited to be a mentor/choreographer to the *SCAPE dance residents as part of their programme for aspiring youth dancers. This programme aims to help them grow as artists and bridges them to a series of mentorship, masterclasses, opportunities to apprenticeships and showcases.

The showcase by the youths was presented at comma, a Creative Arts Festival that aims to inspire, showcase, and celebrate youths in their artistic pursuits.

Very Special Dance, RAW Moves in partnership with ART:DIS

Very Special Dance is a programme by ART:DIS in partnership with RAW Moves. This programme aims to pave the way for students who are interested in dance and aspire to be professional dancers. VS Dance programme comprises classes, workshops, excursions and performance opportunities to allow students to develop their artistic voice and life skills.
